Thermoset provides a strong, lightweight enclosure, with fine tolerances and excellent reproduceability.



Movie Camera Body

Product requirements :

  • Lightweight, high strength enclosure.
  • Intricate design with flanges, rebates and apertures.
  • Very fine tolerances.
  • High impact resistance and strength.
  • Must facilitate quiet operation of camera.

Solution :

A thermoset compression moulding from a multi part tool, allowing recesses and undercuts to be formed. Detail machining provides all the fixturing holes and cut outs.

Product requirements :

  • Lightweight enclosure
  • Very flat surfaces with fine tolerances
  • Must be absolutely lightproof
  • High impact resistance and strength
  • High quality surface finish
  • Must facilitate quiet operation of camera

Solution :

A matched metal compression moulding provides fine moulded detail on both the inside and outside faces.

Foam cores and a mixture of carbon and glass result in structures that have very good sound deadening yet still retain lightness and stiffness.

  • Lightweight tone arm for top quality record deck
  • Very stiff
  • Attractive styling
